The short term vacation rental bill has passed.
As of April 1st, 2019, you must register your short term vacation rental regardless of what zoning it is in.
Approved zoning for vacation rentals is resort zoning (V, CG, CV), multifamily residential (RM). and residential and commercial zones within the General Plan Resort and Resort Node areas. These areas may register at any time as a new short term vacation rental.
If you are in an unapproved zone (residential, agriculture, etc.), you may only register as a vacation rental if you can prove the unit was operating as a vacation rental prior to April 1, 2019. If the unit was not a vacation rental, you may NOT apply as a vacation rental.

Registration of a vacation rental will cost $500.
All short term vacation rentals must have had final permits issued for building, electrical and plumbing.
Short term vacation rental applications must include: verification of taxes paid in full, certification that there is the required amount of parking, site plan, floor plan, verification that notices of nonconforming use application have been submitted to all dwellings within 300 feet, must include reachable person in county,
Registration must be renewed annually for $250. No notices are sent out, and if you do not renew in time, you lose your right to vacation rental your property.
All short term vacation rentals must have a reachable person listed who is available 24/7 and who can be at the property within 3 hours if requested.
